Hi. I'm only 13 and I'm upsessed about graphics(web design). I talked to my computer education head of department and I showed them some quick skills and my designs and they offered me to take a Grade 11 course with her. I obviously gonna take it and yes I will be first student in brisbane(Australia) to ever do this. I want to make a portfolio to help me achieve this easier and in a professional manner. can someone show me some links of very good portfolio's and tell me tips for the future. I really would apreciate any help because It's a lot of pressure from people and family for a 13 to handle. So any tips would be highly appreciated!

Congrats on getting into the course!
Your portfolio should contain your designs in an organized manner. Whether it be on a cd or on the web, your designs should be categorized. Keep the wallpapers in a wallpaper section, the logos in a logo section, etc. Be sure to fill it with your above average work; it's better to have quality than quantity... however, that doesn't mean only include a few designs. I'd say have at least two good designs per category.

Another thing to consider is the names of your designs. Be sure to give all of them names that make sense... nothing like "randomimage111" or something of that nature. It can even be as simple as "Car Wallpaper" if you've designed a wallpaper with cars in it. As long as the names fit and are not completely random, it'll be fine.

If you got into the class, I'm sure that you'll excel. So there's no need to worry about it so much. I understand that you're going through a lot of stress because of the pressure, but don't get too worked up about it. When it comes to graphics design, just follow the directions and eventually you'll start implementing your own ideas into the designs and such.

If you have any other questions, be sure to ask. =]

IMHO, theres no real guideline to design when it comes to a portfolio. Thats the point of a portfolio, to reach far beyond the limits and boundaries you normally would contain yourself in to satisfy the wants and needs of otherwise design illiterate folks who could be your potential customers. You also want to acheive something special with your portfolio to set it apart from your other works. Heres some links to some very impressive portfolios, and a couple places to find more. Gather your ideas, but be careful, don't shoot too far beyond what you know you can do. And try to avoid traditional rules and boundaries, anything provocative and inspiring should be featured in your portfolio if you can manage it.
