I had an account a few months ago, but stopped using it while overseas. Now it is gone, probably suss pended from inactivity. So I try creating a new one, but get this on that page :
We are currently not accepting new accounts while we perform maintenance on our backend systems, please try again early February.
It is now early March. is x10 out of business, not longer accepting new accounts, what?
I have an account on the premium side with no problems, so could someone with knowledge of the situation please explain what has happened?

x10 Free is still transitioning to the new backend system. Testing has begun and signups should be enabled again soon. Please check back later and we'll be glad to help.

I HAVE been checking, for more than a month now. No one can tell me what happened to my old account, no one can tell me when new accounts might be turned on, no one can tell me what the status is of the migration that is now in its 3rd month. Come on guys, give us a break here and put some deadlines in place that you can meet!!

x10 provides additional services and customization to the control panel software, none of which is supplied by the software authors. This includes automation features to make your experience better, tools to help people like me help you, and the suspension system which removes harmful accounts that cause slowdowns and outages of the server. All this is custom made by x10's team. As the move was precipitated by the company cPanel, the move was sudden and so now systems have to be created from scratch. All available team members are working on the development.

If there's any material support I can provide, I am happy to do so. Unfortunately, software development and debugging of unfamiliar software on the fly is not an exact science and I can't provide exact answers.

I did an extensive search of what happened to your accounts. You've had several over the past few years. Most have been put in the suspension queue for inactivity, and then deleted a month later. One was suspended for logins from a blacklisted country and then uploading malicious software. Some accounts have been created during this small window of backend redevelopment. If you need specifics on any account, you can provide me with an email address or user name, and I'll give you what information is available. But, since 2011 I can see the creation, suspension, and deletion of every account attributed to you, and they've all been handled in accordance with the terms of service of x10.

I'm sorry if your experience with x10 has been a negative one, and being suspended and deleted is incredibly frustrating, but as a neutral party that does not work for x10 and advocates for the community, I don't see that x10 has treated you differently than any of the thousands of other users.

Your most recent account was removed nearly a year ago after having remained suspended for more then 21 days.

You know you can always pay for hosting if you need it fast, otherwise I'd suggest that once you manage to get an account you make sure to follow ToS so you don't end up with it deleted again. Barring any issues signups should be back on by end of this week according to last information I got.

@ghardin @webdev55 Please check the news and announcements for details about signups reopening. I'm marking this issue as resolved as there's nothing that can be done at this time.
