Hello all x10 users. I am new here to x10hosting. I read the rules and think I understand how things work and generally agree with the mindset around here concerning receiving free services and not abusing the admins and mods!

I need your help! I know very very little about web coding. Like we are talking 2 weeks of 'school' work in a class concerning it. I really want to learn basic html and design type stuff. Nothing too fancy right now.

Does anyone have any basic html books to recommend? I do better with books than websites, but websites are appreciated too. I'm not too worried about anything fancy like PHP right now, but I signed up for the adenchanced anyway to help support this site. I'll probably buy the double stuff and forum stuff too just to help out because I really want to learn something useful this summer.

Thanks for any suggestions!

There are millions of books out there about html, just buy an okay looking one from your nearest bookshop. If you want some online tutorials then there are a few below.

Thanks for the welcome and the help :)

I found a book Head First HTML on Amazon but the reviews are sort of mixed. I want to learn HTML, but learn it right and not the wrong way like I learned in school. Sorta half way learning the basic stuff even. I was reading samples and the font tag code isn't even used anymore x.x

I got mad when we learned basic all half rear-ended to the point where it was useless. I like to learn things the right way so I can actually participate with people and projects! So yeah, I mean send me as many references as you like, but I want to start out simple :p I'm not experienced, and smart enough to know not claim to be awesome!

Its one of the first and most annoying things that you learn with web programming.

Try the link below, if you put in your site url it will show you what is looks like in many different browsers to help you with these compatibility issues.

Good Luck!

I agree with you crmrally! No banners and you get great hosting, an ad banner and you get awesome hosting. Pay a few dollars for an upgrade and it just keeps getting more awesome.

Now somebody was definitely thinking with portals when they came up with this idea to make a good free hosting situation for both the provider and the user!

Verbsite - kudos again! Thanks for the address! I tried that out to see how it works and that is really an awesome project they have going there!

Zangetsu - Definitely, I did my best to understand them. I'll do my best to follow them. A free host site as good as this definitely needs to keep things sane on the servers and for everyone to keep it good for all.
