New Member: Help nedded

After uploading my site I check to see if it was ok and got a welcome page instead of my own so after doing a search of this forum I saw a post saying to delete the index.HTML file in the public folder, this got rid of the welcome page but didn't load my page instead I saw this.

But after clicking on the leo1954au my page loaded, As I'm a new member I must have done something wrong, I used Web Studio to build and upload my site and there is a part when uploading that ask's what remote site folder to put the files in and I just left it blank like I use to do with my last web host, should I have put public.

If I type in http://leongt1954.x10hosting.com/leo1954au/ my site loads but if I use http://leongt1954.x10hosting.com/ it dosent, hope some one can help me with this.

All this cPanel stuff is new to me and a bit Confusing

Your site should be in the public_HTML folder. Any folders in there add to your url.

Lets say you uploaded all of your site folders to your public_html.. so your folder tree looks like this;

/home/leongt1954/
+ /public_html/
   - index.html
   - /leo1954au/
        /index2.html

That will return the URLs

http://leongt1954.x10hosting.com/ <-- would relate to index.html
http://leongt1954.x10hosting.com/leo1945au/ <-- would relate to index2.html

If you put the files that are in your leo1954au folder into the folder already in cPanel called public_html and make sure that the first page is named index.html or .htm then when you go to http://leongt1954.x10hosting.com/ it will just come up.

All good now, it was when I signed up to the FTP account I had public_html/leo1954au.

So I just deleted all my files plus the FTP account and opened a new FTP account and had it as just public_HTML and it uploaded ok.

FTP and HTML default to different places so you need to be careful (as you found out!) Glad you've got it sorted.
