I've had a similar issue with mail from my Ninja forms. I've run a test, and the e-mail seems to be sent out, but never arrives. I think the problem is that with a free server, many people abuse the e-mail privileges, so a lot of providers (AOL, Hotmail, Gmail) start blocking all e-mails from the server's IP address. (The e-mails don't just go into spam, but get deleted entirely.) Even though you personally are not abusing the e-mail privilege, the bad apples who are ruin it for all of us.
If the issue is just getting e-mail notifications from your own board, you might try using your x10hosting e-mail address as the mail to which the notifications should be sent. (Presumably, x10hosting won't ban e-mails from its own servers.) But if you're talking about e-mails to people who post on your board, there is probably not a way of fixing this short of either a) moving to a dedicated server, or b) finding board software that will work with something like
SendGrid, which has its own e-mail servers (and polices its users so that spammers get deleted quickly).
SendGrid is free for up to 12,000 e-mails a month, so it may be a solution if you don't have a huge number of users and can find board software that works with it.
