The world has officially seen the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic a.k.a the Tube. It would be the first mainstream touchscreen phone by Nokia running the legendary Symbian S60 platform. But the world wasn’t too impressed with that, and neither were we.

So where does Nokia go from here? Well, meet the new communicator.

During their Symbian S60 webcast yesterday, Nokia showed off a teaser slide (image on the right), depicting a concept smartphone. From the looks of it, it would be a multi-touch device which can also be operated with a stylus. The large form factor gives it a strong resemblance to the current E Series, more specifically the E9x lineup.

The screen appears to be large, round about 4″ with a high resolution (800×420 anyone?) with an aspect ratio similar to the Tube. What’s more is that the device shown had a full QWERTY keyboard concealed behind a clamshell like design.

Once opened, the screen flips towards the inside into a widescreen mode which complements the keyboard and the existing E9x designs. The reflective glossy keyboard below also raises some questions like if that is a real keyboard or a virtual one (A dual-screen by Nokia?).

Whatever the case may be, if this concept is actually converted into a device, it would probably end up in the over-priced, high end market, along with the rest of the E Series devices. And that too would be somewhere around the next couple of years, like in 2010. But still, it would be one of those gadgets that makes you drool, and most certainly would be a tough challenge to the Aindroid and the iPhone.
