Yeah, but at if you didn't enable autorun (You have to disable it via the registry, then the rootkit wouldn't of installed)
Seriously, is there a CAL against sony for this yet?
Nevertheless Sonys defense were quite sad. ""Most people, I think, don't even know what a rootkit is, so why should they care about it?"
And eventhough you could have it disabled, they still were there and that is my point.
And Sony released an "uninstaller" and that itself unmasked the rootkit, but did not uninstall it. Also you needed to give out your email to a bulk email list to Sony to get the uninstaller also it installed another piece of software that could not be uninstalled. Also a ActiveX script needed to be installed and itself contained backdoors.
In other words: Why buy products from a company that has so much disrespect for their own customers? I know i won´t.
