Hey fellow x10'ers.

Has anyone ever gone to OceanGram?

When I am bored, I open a page to OG and await a "message in a bottle" ... some are pretty interesting, most are pretty stupid. But you can track messages you send out, or even send messages to friends. :)

Latest message to float to my screen :

I just checked four messages that I sent out a week ago and not one of them got picked up...how come that? Dec. 29/06
---
It is a strange system. There are an awful lot of messages that seem to take almost a month to go to the next person. And often, even though they're delivered, no one will comment on it, but they just throw it back.
---
so you can tell when they are thrown back in the tracking?

picked up and answered 2/2/07

What did you send or find?

that's very interesting..but what most people are gonna say is just hello or what's up, since it looks like a fairly new idea, so they're just gonna see if it works

Just sent a message:

Aye! We need more rum!

And just got a message:

Chuck Norris can divide by zero.

Seems kinda funny program

Edit:
To bad, I just had this Idea for a beer company promotion, just to find out that its been done.
---
Story of my life. I am great at coming up with ideas, but crap at doing anything about it. If one could sell ideas I would be worth a lot more. UK
---
Instead of sitting on your butts having ideas, why don't you research how to get them implemented?
---
Inventors should realize that it takes a good deal of money to have their ideas manufactured and sold. There's original design work to be done, you have to get a UPC code, a design for your packaging, pay the agent to find, inspect, and handle the manufacturing concerns, and then there's shipping to pay and duties. But by far the worst expense is in marketing -- sometimes marketing costs are like a bottomless pit, where you continue to pour money into it and you don't sell as many as you thought. Selling your idea outright to a company often nets very little money for the inventor, so producing it independently is still your best bet. Some people have also become fantastically wealthy off of an invention they produced, so don't despair!
---
So why not just continue to get ridiculously drunk night after night and pity yourself.
---
don't forget to bang the ol lady...

Woah this thing is more random than 3 monkeys in a barrel!

Can't say that it really bothers me. I dislike thongs too. Horrid unattractive underwear.

Yeah, its quite random. If you read what OceanGram is about : http://www.oceangram.com/about.htm ... You'll see that messages can be random, and can take a while to be found by someone else.
You can even have oceangram on your website. They offer a way to put the code on your site. :)

I may have to do that myself. :)

Yes. It is quite a "funky" thing. :)
But I like it. I plan to put a link and make a page of it on my site ( which you can. Its a "Satellite" version. I think it would be pretty sweet. Another access point to connect with the ocean. :)

I'd read up on their rules first. I tried to promote x10 ... and even put a tracking on the message, to see where it goes ... it was "removed" by the system. So, it may not be possible.
