I changed dns to:
ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

and I changed the site on the account panel to bessfamilysite.com and when I go to www.bessfamilysite.com I get the index.html I made, but if I go to bessfamilysite.com without the www I get the message that Cpanel and Apache have been successfully installed... I can't get it to just go to my index.html on bessfamilysite.com too...

I don't know, sometimes it will work, and sometimes it won't :nuts:

Try clearing your cache and flushing your dns.
