This is what they says about $50 in their TOS.

Account Balances

All account balances are held in PayBox currency. PayBox maintains a currency that is autonomous and independent of all nations and governments. The PayBox currency is denominated in dollars and cents (similar to the currency of the United States and over 20 other countries). The PayBox currency is currently in a closed system, and cannot be exchanged or spent. Before long we plan to open our currency to be spent and exchanged just as you can with any other currency. Our plans include person-to-person transactions (via the Internet and over cell phone text messages), integration with merchants and shopping cart systems, debit card transactions (through an issued debit card linked to your account), and more. The value of our currency is estimated to be close to that of the U.S. dollar. As is the case with any currency, once the PayBox currency becomes openly exchangeable, its value as weighted against other world currencies can and will fluctuate due to forces beyond our control.

I think this SCAM :frown:

I don't think it's a scam but Paybox $50 isn't $50 USD is the problem. So while it's totally legit, unless Paybox takes off (which with as many rivals as they have, I doubt), there's not really that much of a point to it.

Read the above posts before replying guys - its already been pointed out it is not USD currently, it'd be Paybox bucks. If all goes well it might actually turn into $50usd in the future, but that'd assume Paybox takes off.

$50 for signup? No matter if it is equal to USD or INR, it is still a very big amount and they will be bankrupt if it is true.

@snshusat: That's the point, it's not equal. We don't know what the currency rates will be from PayBox to USD or any other world currency. Here's something I found on their release date timeline:
Target Timeframe: December 5, 2011 - January 9, 2012

Launch PayBox currency exchange, allowing for open exchange with all major world currencies. This will enable users to convert their PayBox account balance (or any portion thereof) to any major world currency for withdrawal, or convert back for deposit.
The PayBox services themselves will launch in the spring or summer of 2011, if all goes per their current plan.

I signed up, just in case this does work out and I can get a lot of money for having an account and answering a couple of questions every week. xD

The first link: The guy really doesn't have any argument against it. So you need to log in frequently and do some things to keep your account active. I've had my Paybox account for a few months, and I log in once or twice every week and vote for one merchant on their merchant survey and vote for a few debit cards in that competition. It's not hard work at all, just takes less than five minutes. What's the big deal??

The second link: This guy does bring up good points. However, that post was made on October 8. If he had bothered to stick around with Paybox, he would have noticed that Paybox is progressing at a rapid rate. It is already gathering information on where to offer its services with retailers, which will most likely be used with the debit card system they're planning. I never heard about that Green thing he mentioned, but I can tell by the way he's talking about it that it didn't get far. Paybox is getting far for the time it's been around to the public. And all of that stupid info about Google and the domain name, who cares about that? It'll get renewed, geez. He's a webmaster, he should know domains can get renewed.
