Permission Denied

Hi, I'm trying to change my .htaccess file, but I keep getting this error whenever I try to modify it:

Response: 550 .htaccess: Permission denied
Error: Critical file transfer error

Any suggestions?

Can you try changing the permissions of the file and trying again?

I tried changing the permissions, but it remains unchanged.
