I'm new to x10hosting and I have to say that although the service seems good, using it is a little over-complicated, especially if you're a busy person.
I understand PHP was abused by some users and thus one needs to apply for it manually and explain why you need it. That is acceptable.
My application for PHP v3 was denied for the following reason:
"Version 3 is not for any new hosting account to use. If you read the description on the account panel you would know this."
Note that I'm not complaining about being denied and I understand I should apply for v2. But I just like to say that if you wrote it in the description I would read it. The description in the PHP section mentions only PHP knowledge, it doesn't say anything about new accounts. You can't complain about users not reading things that you didn't write :happysad:. If you'll write it clearly in either the general description in the PHP section or in the v3 description it would save some work, time and annoyance for both you and the users.
This is the description in the PHP section:
"10Hosting has secured PHP to prevent misuse and protect all of its members. If you require a less secure version of PHP for your site to run, you can request it below. Please type a detailed explanation of why you are requesting a change in your PHP version. If you do not make a reasonable argument to switch versions, your request will be denied. The advanced configuration (v3) should not be requested without an extremely good reason and advanced knowledge of PHP."
Does it mention anything about new accounts? Should I have guessed it? Maybe some people are too dumb to guess it then.
Sorry for making such a fuss about it, but after patiently reading quite a few pages of info and instructions on different locations on this site, logging into 2 separate user panels and the forum and making an effort to understand how things work here, the reply I got was a bit insulting.
And now I have to apply for PHP upgrade for v2 with a detailed explanation, again, why I need it. And then wait and see if my application is accepted or denied. I'm not sure I have enough free time to create and maintain a workable website here.
I guess every free PHP host has its issues. The one I'm using now for another site has other issues, but at least their support/admin was never rude and it doesn't require that much attention just to get started.
Anyway, thanks for offering this free service. I guess if you don't want to pay for hosting your hobbies, it's a good thing you have the option to choose between the different issues of different free hosts
