I decided to move this problem to a new thread

Everytime I go onto the website to install the forum, I get this error

Phpbb: Critical error

Could not connect to database.

Now im guessing I most likely have my Mysql stuff wrong, so yeah..
What do I do?

are u installing manually?

ur MySQL Stuff should be (for me anyway)

zenax_phpbb1 not phpbb1

your name has to be infront of it.

also make sure the account is added to the database so it works, but normally the main admin account will work!

Second of all, there is an easier option, and its called fantastico! It shall do it automatically.

Thirdly, if you are doing it via Fantastico, then I have just spouted a load of random rubbish at you!

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Zenax

Basically go into the filesurfer in cpanel

navigate to ur phpBB folder, go the template folder, find the template ur using and open that folder, then edit the overall_header.tpl page, add the ad code

Simpe as that

Im having the same problem. Iinstalled phpBB 2.x.x and when i follow the instructions to the t i still get a "unable to connect to database' as well. So when i logged in to my account i saw where it says
mysql 0/0. Im guessing that could be the problem? Im just wondering cuz i have a custom made phpbb template to install.

I figured mine out :) with help. But well I didnt capatilize the letter I was suppose to and the second time around trying. I didnt change anything but that and it worked Lol maybe it was just me.

Also what zenax said before I think, make sure you have a database there. That was the first problem I ran into =3

With the 0/0 problem, you have no databases. You're probably on static plan. Just upgrade to Advanced through the forums' user panel.
