phpbb3 conversion problem

I am trying to update the phpbb version, as Fantastico says I should. I have followed the process to one point, but need some info.

It says the table prefix needs to match the old one from the database I am updating from.

The shown prefix is phpbb_.

What was the old one?

When you first installed your phpBB forum it asked you for the prefix. To see what the prefix is do this:
Login to cPanel > PhpMyAdmin > Select the database where you have installed phpBB. You'll see the tables there, all starting with the same prefix, like the example you said, phpbb_

The prefix IS phpbb_, for both databases, the old one and the new. I have a third database, but that is pictures I can transfer later.

So could you update your phpBB or you're getting an error ? If you're getting an error, tell us what error you're getting.

No error message given.
The table prefix needs to be the one used by the software you are converting from.
» Specified table prefix was phpbb_.

In the text box asking for the prefix, it shows phpbb_ like it should.

This is on the step called SETTINGS. When I clicked on the Begin Conversion button, I got that error message.


OK, I tried dropping the _ from the prefix, and it now just says the first part of error message, cannot connect, see error message, and No error message given.

Are you using the correct info for the database user name and password? It is not your cPanel user\pass but a separate one created for the database.
