First thing is that it takes a while to load your site, try reducing the file size of some of your images. Also your site looks quite messy in Firefox 3, things are all different sizes. I think it would also look better if you put some more stuff in boxes and maybe change the background colour. For example on the Hurricane Centre page, there are three columns (Left Nav, Right Nav, and Content) however on your homepage you do not have these columns. It doesn't look consistent.

There is to much space [empty space] between text and boxes. Despite that it's all functional and cool ;)

Not bad.
Why are there two of the same ad on the right hand side? One will do!
I will say that the columns are inconsistent. The main issue I believe is the login/mailing list/ welcome message. Perhaps you could make that row much smaller/neater, or put it with the hurricane watch column (but perhaps Then align the welcome message with the boxes below on the left.
Also, perhaps keep the top right picture aligned to the right, and not stretched.
Then I think it will look much neater.

i think it's nice but i suggest you to change the color orange-red to something else

Thank you to every one who has responded! My front page has been going through changes during the past day and Now I believe looks much better.
