Hello, me and my friend play computer games over the internet alot with eachother. Me and him live about a mile away from eachother. If i were to set up a Point-To-Point Wi-Fi system, what would i need and how much would it possibly cost per person considering i just got a new Wireless-N router, modem, and soon fiber optic internet service?

You'd need planning permission to erect some wifi-extenders onto some something so the wireless would stretch far enough, you'd need to buy the wireless range extenders to add onto your existing wifi.
You'd also need to secure your wireless network to stop others from using it.

A Mile is a pretty hefty distance for wifi. I think that you may be better off over the internet as the signal strength / quality over the mile would deteriorate, even with extenders / boosters.

As a comparison I googled Wi-Fi 1 mile and came up with http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6577307.stm

For 1 SQUARE mile they needed 127 nodes so square root that to get 1 mile (I think, my maths is a bit dodgy here. And that gives you just over 11 extenders / boosters.

Of course, this is highly speculative. Personally, i'd keep using the internet.

1 mile? hmm... I'm think that WiFi 2.4 GHz (802.11.b) will be enough you need 2 directional antennas and 2 low-cost AP's will be helpful. If you have many buildings on signal-way you need some ampifiler (1 will be enough). You know... WiFi for 2 people is expensive idea, why you don't can use a normal LAN or DSL? You need only a IP and this is not a big problem.
