You have a GTX 260 but with no DirectX 10 support? Have you tried running a trial of Vista to see how it copes with XP at all with the new card?

@xPlozion

How you do you like your Hauppauge card.
it's pretty good. on xp, it runs fine, but it's a bit buggy on vista (as you could imagine). i don't have any of their software installed though, and am using sagetv to capture from both sources. i haven't gotten it to work on linux yet though... :'(

this was the cap card i got: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815116009

I have a 2nd gen macbook pro with 2.33GHz 15" matte screen 256MB vram
running OS 10.5.5 plus Ubuntu Studio, Fedora 9 and Windows XP Pro
I need to replace the hard drive so I can quit packing an external drive but I might just upgrade to the newer one altogether.

Since you're running one of the new Intel i7 CPUs along with DDR3 RAM, I thought I'd mention to not run the RAM voltage too high. I heard that setting the voltage too high, like above 1.8v would get to the processor.
