i'll post my laptop...

1.73ghz Pentium dual core
1.5gb ram
mobile intel(r) 965 express chipset family
138 gb hd

one more weeks work and i'll have enough for something like

2.5ghz Intel quad core
4-8 GB ddr2 ram (not much point in having alot)
(a reasonable motherboard i know what one but cant think of it)
9800GT (thinking of having 2) maybe gtx
200-500 gb hd.
with a 19"-22" lcd monitor.

My computer is amazing!
16 inch monitor
cheapest speakers available
broken mouse
156mb of RAM
40gb HD
0.2 Proccessor (well, It feels like it)
CD drive that gets stuck
A nice hard case, with hammer marks in it.

Don't you want a computer like this?
I've got one =] exactly the same.
my dad has to use it.

I have a older MAC G4 Silver with a few upgrades. Here's the specs:
867MHz
1GB RAM
60GB HD
DVD/CD Burner
17" monitor
OSX 10.4.11

It's starting to slow down a bit given it's over 7 years old. The max RAM is 1.5 GB so I'm not planning on any more upgrades/updates. Time to convince the wife for a new one ;-).

2.4 Ghz Intel Core Duo
13" LCD screen
SuperDrive DVD writer

It's supposed to be quite good and I like it but I am hoping for a MacBook Pro once I get the money...

just trying to be funny? it says you have:
intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz.
mExPS/2 Generic Explorer Mouse.
a generic (probably PnP LCD) monitor running 1024x768@76Hz.
a wireless card of generic type using windows drivers adapted for linux.
a linksys wireless g card.
a generic keyboard.
HP DVD Writer 1040r.
sata HDD.
several usb flash disks.
that's all i can get out of it. i think you are using onboard video..... not much use really. how about your ram? how about the actual vid card manufacturer/model? benchmarking software will have information about everything that is understandable.

Windows Vista Ultimate

3.0ghz AMD Athlon64 x2 dual core
2gb ram
nVidia 8800GT w/built-on Akimbo addon cooler
BenQ DVD Burner
Unknown 640gb sata
Unknown 320gb sata
Unknown 120gb IDE

Soon as I get my tax refund, this'll change a bit to something similar to this (parts subject to change because PRICES subject to change, and I might go with other parts)

New motherboard
2.8ghz AMD Quad core
4gb dual channel ram (8gb maximum, thanks to a new motherboard)

Other than this, copypaste the parts from above - this pc's motherboard was a budget mistake, and I will -never- cheap out on the motherboard again. Burnt out onboard LAN, new one won't be a crappy budget model.

Advantage to replacing: Can get Quad, increased memory cap, dual channel capacity, SLI capacity, my sata ports won't get blocked by my freakin' video card.

Disadvantage: I'll have a semi-working motherboard that needs a power supply and drives, but I've got a project I can make that work for anyways.

Edit: Forgot to mention, all home-built. Seems most places add like $200-300 for the 'construction' fee :)

4 GB DDR2
NVidia 9800GT 1Gb

Homebuild is fine unless you don't know where to get your parts for cheaper otherwise theres not much point.
