Recently, my previous domain had expired without my knowledge and I was unable to reinstate it. So I registered a new domain and went to X10Hosting to change the domain over. I removed the old domain completely, but when I go to put in the new one I get the error "Unable to add the domain name − You have exceeded the maximum allowed FTP (File Transfer Protocol) accounts." Although I've changed things like this before (including, once before, the domain of another website in a similar manner, which went perfectly), I don't understand why I'm getting this error. I am trying to get the site back online, and the nameservers are already properly set up on the domain provider's end. Can someone explain what the issue is here, and how to correct it?

Do you have any other FTP Accounts besides the Special FTP Accounts? If so, I would recommend deleting them first and then try to add the new domain.

Open cPanel and go to the "FTP Accounts" tool (in the Files box).

I don't know how to access that tool; when I log in it just jumps right to the usual "My Websites" page, and the other CPanel pages ("Domains", "Databases", etc) don't show any of what you've described.

Switching themes did it for me. I was able to access the aforementioned FTP accounts settings, and saw the offending FTP account was an account I previously set up through PHPMyAdmin for another user who I invited in to test something that ultimately didn't work. I deleted the extra account and was able to set up the new domain without further issues after switching back to the X10 theme.
