Problem in sending emails

Iam getting following error while sending emails : There was an error sending your message: Failed to connect to localhost:25 [SMTP: Failed to connect socket: Connection refused (code: -1, response: )]

Mails are coming(but very late) but not going.

Plz help

have you tried using php mail.

for smtp you must use the username: username+yoursite.com
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.yoursite.com
