Hello, I have installed an smf forum but when i try to install the packages for the forum i get the message \"You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!\".

The package was upload correctly and the problem is when i try to install it.

I have all the chmod at 777 (except cgi-bin, index.php, public_html and www, if iput any of it in 777 the forum doesn´t works (error 500)).

If search the forum, faqs and wiki but i didn´t see any help.

What can i do?

Hello,

What about the actual packages directory inside public_html. Did you check the permissions on that?

Thanks.

Ah, sorry. I misread what you'd said.
Have you tried installing it via softaculous?

Thanks.

Not, softaculous only install the basic forum, neither the forum version that i want or the packages for the forum, so i've installed the forum manually and it works perfect. The only problem it´s when i try to install the packages that i want to install in the forum (ThankOMatic125, anti_spam_ver_ques_11.02 ...).

The manual upload and installation of the forum was fast and easy, i was surprised how good this host is.
