Hi,

I have been unable to access my site for the past two days. I get the following error message:

Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL

I use Joomla and also have a Wordpress script installed. I have created a new Joomla installation in a different directory (www.infoingles.com/test2) and that works fine, but I can't access the original one on my root directory. I also tried removing it but I got this message:

Warning: shell_exec() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/chrisdc/public_html/prepare_removal.php on line 22

I would appreciate any help.

Many thanks,
Chris

In your MySQL section in cPanel, try removing and re-adding the mySQL user to the database with all permissions.

Hi Corey,

I've done what you said but I'm still getting the same message.

I have again tried to remove the Joomla installation so that I can start over but I get the same message as before.

I also tried upgrading it to the latest Joomla version but I get the following message:

Upgrade failed

The database chrisdc_jo151 is not working properly and the creation of a database backup file has failed. Please contact the sysadmin for further assistance. Include this message for reference.

The initial installation has not been modified.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

Hmm, well to remove it just go into your public_html and delete the folder, then go into the MySQL section in cPanel and delete the database.

That will remove it from your account.

Sorry to be a pain, but I have one more question. Can I safely delete the entire contents of my public_html folder except for the folders containing other installations (Wordpress and 2nd Joomla installation)?

Thanks for your help.

You can safely delete everything inside the public_html folder if you wish. Just be warned that x10Hosting doesn't make backups of free accounts, and can't recover files if you delete something you didn't mean to ;). I've deleted things by mistake before, so I know what it's like :/.

No problem :). This seems to have been solved so I'm going to close it, but if you need support with anything else, feel free to make a new thread or re-open this one.
