I have a website build with Joomla ver 1.5.20 that was working perfectly well and without a problem until recently.
Any time I go to the site now, a pageful of errors come up starting with the first line reading as follows.
Strict Standards: Non-static method JLoader::import() should not be called statically in /home/myusername/public_html/portfolio/libraries/loader.php on line 186
50 or more lines of errors follow - all starting with: Strict Standards: Non-static method . . .

I can get into the Joomla administrator's control panel, but get the same set of errors
when i go to Component/portfolio - which is the primary core to my website.
The site is structured using the Portfolio component and the Manifolio module.

Has something changed in the server setup to cause these errors?

I was thinking of updating Joomla to the latest version 2.5.14 ,
but was warned that my site may no longer work due to the extent of changes going from version 1.5.xx up to ver 2.5.xx

any feedback would be greatly appreciated

That error is due to Joomla requiring an older version of PHP. Normally you could follow our guide to downgrade our PHP, but I do not recommend you do this. Instead, I cannot stress enough how much I recommend that you update your Joomla installation. The majority of suspensions we place are because someone's account has been compromised because they were running an out-of-date CMS. Many updates to CMSs have vital security fixes that resolve certain issues, and by not updating you are not subject to any of these vital security fixes.

Thank you
