I've got domain registered...say "mydomain.com"

Added name servers with registrar for ns1 & ns2.x10hosting.com

Parked domain at cPanel and I can get to my home page fine...but I can't connect to email server.

I created an email account called "default" with an easy password...

I configure outlook account to connect to;

lotus.x10domain.com & mail.mydomain.com & mydomain.x10hosting.com but unable to connect and send/retrieve emails.

All servers reply to ping and up...

Can somebody confirm what the settings should be to access and send email...thanks

"Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in your account properties. The server responded: -ERR Authentication failed"
Edit:
All is now working ok...would you believe me if I said it was a school boy typo error while creating the mailbox of "defailt" :bash: doh!!!

Thanks for your replies zapzack

Although the main email account is working the catch all isn't :-(

I did get these instructions from the ticket...
**********************************************
It is possible to define how the default address handles the incoming messages.

* Set Up a Default Address

Set Up a Default Address

To set up your default address:

1. Select the domain for which you wish to set up a default address.
2. Click one of the following options:
* Forward to email address — Enter the address in the text box. You do not need to type “@” and the domain name.
* Discard with error to sender — Enter an error message for the sender to read.
3. You can also click Advanced Options to:
* Discard incoming messages without an automatic response. note Note: this option is not recommended since the sender will be unaware that the delivery failed.
* Automatically forward messages to a program by defining a path to the program, for example /home/$utility, in the Pipe to a Program field.
4. Click the Change button.
**************************************
The above shows you how to create a mail forward - from one email to another, not a catch all, but it pointed me in the correct way...

So I created a Email Domain Forward but the system won't let you put in an email address for the destination...only a domain "mydomain.com" or a possible email account ie "myemail" - I configured it to forward all emails sent to my domain to "default" but it won't work (all spellings tripple checked!!!).

Anybody able to test this also?

Stopgap-

I've gotten some conflicting answers on catchall support for free accounts.

First, they HAD been working, and stopped around last November. I filed a support ticket, and fedlerner said catchalls had been disabled. More recently, Corey commented in a different thread, that the functionality is still available via the ASSP icon. However, on going there, I don't see anything relevant other than disabling ASSP's interference with catchalls (the "no local address" filter). The icon that used to let you set the catchalls has gone away. (At least, on *my* cpanel, which was long missing some icons before, so it might not be missing on yours.) :dunno:

Edit:
Stopgap-

Good news! Someone posted in another thread that they can get to the default address functionality by using the address. Missing the icon does not mean that the functionality has been disabled, as I had been ass-u-me'ing. Go to http://lotus.x10hosting.com:2082/frontend/x3/mail/def.html (changing "lotus" to whatever your server is, if needed). I haven't filled it out and tested it yet, but at least it comes up!

Thanks for the reply but they must have disabled it :-(

I get the following when I try to set this...

Current Setting: ":fail: No Such User Here"

So I add it again and still get the same 'current setting' as fail.

I've sent an email and I do get a response back from the mail server saying...

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed

EDIT:
I've done some searching and there is a thread that details a bug in the configuration of the default address...

Nobody is away of this catch-all email bug in cpanel?
They are now! But seriously, doesn't seem like it needs some kind of reply, especially since x10 has already hidden the functionality. (Maybe that's even *why*.) Just gotta wait for a fix.
