I'm doing an assignment for school on publicity, and I would like to have your opinion on it.
Are you for or against of publicity? What are, in your opinion, the good traits/advantages of publicity and what are the bad traits/disadvantages of it.
Do you think publicity is full of nonsense or do you think it can be useful/helpful.

I'd love to hear everyone's opinion regarding this subject.

Thank you.

A lot of celebrities and models like good publicity. Some do things to create publicity about their lives, sometimes bad publicity just to get themselves noticed.

Businesses like good publicity, it's like free advertising. Good publicity can mean more customers, better vendor deals, happier employees with more pride in their work, which equals more production and a better product. Bad publicity can really hurt a business, ruin it's productivity and sometimes to the point of driving the business to close it's doors.

publicity is essential for an organization or a company for its existence. But sometimes its annoying when it is forced or compelled.
Always remember that publicity for Yahoo will not be done by Google.

I am for publicity. If you are popular, then people look up to you and you get recognition for the things that you do. If you are an author trying to get published, if you get publicity people might buy your book and you will make money (hint hint). Unfortunately, you get recognition for every screw up that you make, and even worse if you are in the public eye they are looking at you through the scope of a sniper rifle, waiting for you to be vulnerable.

Not all publicity is good publicity. I'd rather not be the spot light of the world but would want to be a well liked person. Hypothetically speaking.

Your poll choices are a little confusing, because there are a few types of publicity, and the options can be taken to mean one type.
Examples:
Accidental - The kind you might find on the news, etc.
Intentional - Advertising.
Reputation - Word of mouth.

"I don't care what you write about me, just spell my name right." is a quote I heard a long time ago, but I don't remember where. It was an actor's response to a gossip magazine.

A company (websites too) can't live without publicity. When was the last time you watched TV without seeing a McDonald's commercial?

When someone mentions Exxon, what's one of the first things you think of?
