I have a domain name balboaisland949.com with register.com

I would like to know if I could have it hosted (free) with x10hosting.com? I pointed the nameservers to x10hosting already, but am not sure what the next step is.

I do not want the domain name forwarded or parked, I want it as its own website. Is that possible?

Thanks

Yes, you can do that.
Go to the cPanel and add an addon domain.

If you are using cPanel "x 3" then click addon domains and add one there.
If you are using x10basic click on domains and add it under "Addon a Separate Domain"

http://x10hosting.com/wiki/How_to_Use_Your_Own_Domain

Addon domain section gives info.

Hi Derek! Thank you! Maybe the nameservers take a while to update. I got the error message "Unable to add the domain name − Unable to create addon domain. Please verify that it has been set to the proper DNS name servers." I did it earlier but maybe it takes longer to update. Also, it automatically places the domain name in the public_html/balboaisland949.com/ folder. When the nameservers are ready, can the website be accessible by typing balboaisland949.com (it wont be placed in a sub-folder?) I am making sure I am understanding this correctly. I am a newbie:)

You upload the files that you want for that domain into the public_html/balboaisland949.com/ folder. Yes the DNS servers take time to update, please make sure they are

ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

No problem. I hope it all works out.

Yes the reputation is no longer present due to the update of the forums, the new button is the thumbs up or check.

Also I've looked at your domain and it seems the nameservers are pointed in the correct position. Please try adding the addon domain once again.

Hi Derek, thank you! It still is giving that error message so I went to register.com and I "unlocked" the domain name. I don't know if that makes a difference, since I technically I guess am not transfering the domain name. but do you think that I needed to unlock it from the register.com side or does it not matter? I also cleared the DNS cache. Thank you for helping me through this process:)

Hi Derek! I think I figured this out. In the control panel, I was using the Basic Version and clicked Add New Domain, but I notice it was taking a very long time. Then, I switched to the cPanel and clicked Addon Domain, and it was much faster that way. Before my webpage for balboaisland949.com said failure to load. Now, right after I did it through the cPanel, it is showing this page: x10hosting.com/website-coming-soon. I flushed the DNS cache, so I am not sure when it will be ready, but it looks like doing it through the Basic Version was ineffective, figured I would give you an update in case any other users have the same issue.:)

Hello your website is working fine. It is showing "welcome to balboaisland.com"

If you aren't seeing your sample page please try flushing your DNS or wait a while before visiting. Alternatively you can try using another browser to see if the sample page shows. I have tried several browsers and the above shows.
