Hey guys, besides my previous poll wanting to know what kind of connection you used, here's a new one I came up with. I'm curious as to what you think of your ISP and their services they give you. On a scale of 0-5, including any decimals (3.4, 4.6, etc,), 0 being not available/don't know, 1 being worst, and 5 the best, rate your ISP using the following.

1: Connection Reliability and Stability (does the connection stay on all the time, no matter what time or under any load, or does it die and disconnect a lot at times or under certain loads on a scale of 1-5. This includes reliability during storms as well).

2: Consistency with speed on both download and upload (as in, does your connection hold solid a lot for the speed you pay for during the day and/or night, or does it have varying speed/slows at certain times in a scale of 1-5.)

3: Tech Support (no premium support please, just the free one).

4: Response to local area problems/your problems

5: Price compared to what services you receive and speed you pay for

6: How well your ISP matches or tries to compete with other ISPs in the area.

7: Who is your ISP?

Hope this isn't too hard/too demanding. I'll post mine in a little bit. If you posted a review on a site like DSL Reports.com, links are welcome to your review!

3: Tech Support (no premium support please, just the free one). 2 They gave me 2 different answers for the same question when I contacted them through email and live chat. One was you may have a web server the other was no. I also had to send my email a few times until I got a reply.

1: Connection Reliability and Stability (does the connection stay on all the time, no matter what time or under any load, or does it die and disconnect a lot at times or under certain loads on a scale of 1-5. This includes reliability during storms as well). I live next to the DSL main feed. What more can I say? 5

2: Consistency with speed on both download and upload (as in, does your connection hold solid a lot for the speed you pay for during the day and/or night, or does it have varying speed/slows at certain times in a scale of 1-5.). Solid 7Mbps/768Kbps no matter what I do, when I do it, or what the weather is like, even during the rare 80MPH winds we might get here, or the ice/snow storms. 5

3: Tech Support (no premium support please, just the free one): 5: Despite complaints I've heard online, I've had no big problems with the free tech support. Heck, I was able to get a hosting company off of my ISP's GLOBAL IP blacklist via a Residential connection calling the free tech support when after some chats with the company owner about me not being able to access their servers, killing 3 of the sites I went to at the time in around an hour.

4: Response to local area problems/your problems: 0. My ISP, despite them offering obserd speeds now away from DSL, continue to upgrade their backbones, but no local speed/area problems at all for what I know. They have made available business class speeds, which is what I have right now for residential prices.

5: Price compared to what services you receive and speed you pay for: One of my friends says my ISP charges me loads for slow speeds (while his Roadrunner connection is $40 for 15Mbps/2Mbps). I say otherwise. For a 7Mbps/768Kbps DSL connection for $40 a month for unlimited transfer, no throttling, unblocked incoming ports, reliable connections, and over $200 of services for free, I get what I pay for. 5.

6: How well your ISP matches or tries to compete with other ISPs in the area.: Unless my ISP hadn't had come up with the idea to replace their copper system with 100% fiber optic right to your home, their DSL in many places wouldn't be able to compete very well with Roadrunner. Roadrunner Turbo is in my area, which can get speeds up to 15Mbps/2Mbps, but this summer, my ISP is rolling in speeds like 30Mbps/15Mbps via Fiber to residents that will make Roadrunner's conjested service seem like dial-up after you use it. They'll keep the DSL on for a few more years, but in the future, I'll have to either switch to cable (NO!) or get my copper line replaced with a fiber line. There is also Frontier DSL available if you're not in Verizon land, or satellite internet as well, so surely a lot of competition around me. The funny thing is, my ISP even moved Fiber Optic out in the middle of nowhere/very wide open farmland in the area, so that's some competition if the only thing out there is $60 a month satellite or 28.8k dial-up. 5

7: Who is your ISP? Verizon, if you've heard of FiOS, you'd know already lol.

1: Connection Reliability and Stability 4/5
Quite reliable. Has gone down a few times. My old ISP would fail constantly

2: Consistency with speed on both download and upload 5/5
Never experienced any slow downs

3: Tech Support N/A
Never had a problem that needed support

4: Response to local area problems/your problems 1/5
When we had it installed, the guy had to come from London (Ontario, not in England). That is nearly an hour-long drive. They are very understaffed locally.

5: Price compared to what services you receive and speed you pay for 5/5
The price is cheaper than my old ISP. And this is 5MBit down while the old one was 768k

6: How well your ISP matches or tries to compete with other ISPs in the area. 5/5
They kind of have a monopoly :(. They are the only cable ISP and DSL wont work well here (that is, in my house and down the street). Hence the outages with my old ISP, which was a DSL. They don't allow you to run any servers, but no other ISPs will either.

It is very stable, never goes out since I got my modem replaced

2: Consistency with speed on both download and upload 5/5
I have been getting more than I pay for :)

3: Tech Support 5/5
They got me a new modem no questions asked within a few minutes

4: Response to local area problems/your problems 5/5
It was very easy to get a technician to come to install our internet and cable feed. Excellent Response time.

5: Price compared to what services you receive and speed you pay for 5/5
It is a very good price compared to the other ISP's. We pay 60 per month and get 16mbit down and 2 (or 3) mbit Up.

6: How well your ISP matches or tries to compete with other ISPs in the area. 5/5
They are the best, Hands down. They have the fastest most reliable and chapest internet connection in my area.

7: Who is your ISP?
Cogeco

The Overall score is 5/5 for Cogeco.

To Tel about my ISP

1: Connection Reliability and Stability:-

For this i am going to give 4/5. It gives me a reliable and stable connection.

2: Consistency with speed on both download and upload:-
Offers good download speed. so i give it a 5/5

3: Tech Support:-
Very bad often, because its a government company. They will take a short span of 1 month or above to rectify if you are not capable to give them some tips. I will give a 0/5

4: Response to local area problems/your problems:-
Same as above. so same marks a big 0/5

5: Price compared to what services you receive and speed you pay for:-
It offers a great speed of 2MBPS for the money i gives. its a good offer to the common man.
So i give a 4/5.

6: How well your ISP matches or tries to compete with other ISPs in the area.:-
Since the ISP is a government organization, it is able to offer its customer cheap broadband service where it would be costly for the same speed with other ISP. So is give them 4/5.

1: Connection Reliability and Stability
5 - Never had any real problems with connectivity and stability.

2: Consistency with speed on both download and upload
5 - Using the cheaper package so this is hard to judge, but not any real problems with 4 people using the internet at once. 768k up/ 384k down

3: Tech Support
1 - The one time i had a problem I used live chat to try and get it resolved. Nobody helped me with it even though I talked to someone. They were nice about it, though. It eventually resolved itself, in the end.

4: Response to local area problems/your problems
1 - Going with the above since I've never had other problems

5: Price compared to what services you receive and speed you pay for
5 - Same price as cable option. We switched from 5MB down cable because of very poor reliability.

6: How well your ISP matches or tries to compete with other ISPs in the area.
4 - Prices seem to match or are below. Fewer features, however.

7: Who is your ISP?

0 - they never had problems I remember.

5: Price compared to what services you receive and speed you pay for

1: Connection Reliability and Stability
The connection is stable, has only gone out during expected moments: lightning strikes, construction, hurricanes (expected in Florida!), otherwise the connection is always on. So about a 4.5

2: Consistency with speed on both download and upload
Average in my opinion; bogs down during heavy load times (mornings, lunch, and dinner) and then lightning fast when everyone (else) is away/asleep. About a 3

3: Tech Support (no premium support please, just the free one).
Sorry, can't comment; never used it. The few times I've lost internet unexpectedly have been related to equipment failure and not the line.

4: Response to local area problems/your problems
Very good; connection is usually back up in 30 minutes. I rate it a 5

5: Price compared to what services you receive and speed you pay for
Can't comment, I don't pay the bill, sorry :(

6: How well your ISP matches or tries to compete with other ISPs in the area.
Again, can't comment. (Sorry!)

7: Who is your ISP?
Bright House: Road Runner

Overall, I rate it a 4
