hi,
First off I have to say this is a great site and an excellent service. While signing up I got the option to register my domain at co.cc, but when I went there the site was not responding so I proceeded with my hosting sign up here without getting a domain name.

Later I went back and got the domain name I wanted.

Now I have mysite.x10hosting.com as well as mysite.co.cc. I want to set it up so that people visiting the site mysite.x10hosting.com get redirected to mysite.co.cc, basically the same site, just a different address.

I have added mysite.co.cc as an AddOn domain in my control panel.

I tried creating a redirect from http://mysite.x10hosting.com/ to http://mysite.co.cc/ but it wouldn't let me. It gave me an error about a redirecting loop.

What is the best way of setting this up?

Thanks

The error:
Redirecting to http://mysite.co.cc/ will cause a redirection loop because 'http://mysite.x10hosting.com/'
which is located at /home/myaccount/public_html/
is above 'http://mysite.co.cc/'
which is located at /home/myaccount/public_html/

I've just redirected a co.cc domain myself. It's really easy.

You don't need to add co.cc as an addon domain.

Log in to your CO.CC account. Click on the domain you want to redirect. Click on Name Server and add:

ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

Have you filled in the Url Forwarding info. Put in mysite.x10hosting.com - no www. In Frame you want to choose url hiding.

It may take up to 48 hours for any changes to take effect in your user account, although it can be as short as 30mins

hi k9,
thanks for the reply. I tried the URL forwarding but the problem there is that when I click on links within my website, the URL up top stays constant at the main domain (http://mysite.co.cc/). Its like I cannot see any of the sub-directories up on the URL address bar. So say I click on the link for the wiki which is at http://mysite.co.cc/wiki, the URL bar still says http://mysite.co.cc, instead of http://mysite.co.cc/wiki, which is what I would like it to say. So that people can bookmark directly to the part of the site they visit most frequently.

Is there someway this can be done with URL forwarding, or do I need to use redirects? I am looking at Apache's RewriteEngine as well to see if it will allow me to set this up. Anyone else have any experience with this kind of a setup? It sounds like quite a standard one.

hi there,

if you update the nameservers at co.cc like K9carer told you and then park the domain at cpanel not redirected it should work just fine the way you want it to arunproff ;)

arun, another option would be to simply have both domains enabled, and simply hide the other one from the public. I am doing that myself and I had no problems concerning the domain name.
