I will give 100 credits to anyone can tell me a step by step instruction on how to get joomla login thingy work with phpbb.

i think you would have to do some considerable modification to either the joomla code or the phpbb code (whichever you want). just make sure that they've got their required fields. also, if the field names for the username, user id, password and more are different, then you'll have to modify that in the queries as well.
