Resource limit being hit often on basic WordPress site

I have a basic WP site with very few heavy hitting plugins.
But lately, well very often I get the error. That a resource limit gets hit.

It's getting so bad that updating basic things cause the limit to be hit.

• Updating password like today, limit hit
• Adding new post, limit hit
• Backing up site through plugin, give that; that is a little bit heavy, limit hit
• Theme updates, limit hit
• Installing plugin, limit hit
• Installing theme, limit hit

That has been disabled for about a month now...

Are all of your plugins listed as being compatible with WP 4.7.2? If not, try deactivating those and see if makes a difference.
Also try enabling debug mode and see if there any easily fixable errors.
