I wouldn't play any of these games :) I prefer games that don't get you addicted and playing all day and night, Halo is an amazing game, too bad it's not out for PS3 :(.

it all depends on if you want to pay to play, runescape is free yea, but for wow, $15 a month you get better graphics, wsad movement, and a lot more features, and as far as seccond life, i havent played it but im pretty sure that it is kind of like a virtual myspace, no mmorpg concepts, and all ive heard of eve online were bad reviews, but i havent played it myself, so i cant say

personally i prefer WoW, but at the moment i dont play any mmo's, too busy with school, and they get very time consuming

The only thing about MMORPG's is they're all basically the same, just looking at it from different angles. On WoW the quests are exactly the same, just killing different monsters and picking up different items. On RuneScape however, the quests are how they should be, trying to be as different as possible, not just keeping the same storyline for one quest and changing what monsters you have to kill.

Personally, I prefer RuneScape for the changes of quests and alot of stuff to do to keep you busy. Just something WoW doesn't have, and lacks it. Blizzard are much better at creating RTS games with a great feel for the game and a better gameplay then they are at making a MMORPG with the same concept.

Ehm...Guild Wars much?

I've been playing GW for almost 4 years (since beta, BAY-ta), I've tried 3 times now to play WoW on free trials and I just can't muster the involvement.

World of Warcraft is pretty much the best MMORPG out.

Runescape is terrible. Second Life and eve online are just boring.

WoW has the most players for a reason.

Runescape changed a lot lately its kind of weird when I last logged in. I dont play any more but I periodically just login and see what changes they did.

I never played WOW but I heard it ruins lives they play it way too much so I dont want to get started on it.

Never heard of second life...

anyone ever played?

I really like Pardus (http://pardus.at) and have been playing for two months. It's a browser-based MMORPG (no downloads, nothing to install) and it's free to play. I like how they have an action point system... with other MMORPGs, I don't feel like I have enough time to spend grinding my way to the higher levels.

I like RuneScape the best for a few reasons:
  • It's free/cheap
  • There's always someone to talk to
  • There's many awesome fan sites (I ues Rune Tips)
  • There's a very good community
If someone says RuneScape is full of immature 7 year olds, then just tell them that Jagex built the ignore list for a reason. Add them to your ignore list for an hour than clear them off so you never even have to talk to them.

I personally don't like WoW because of the lack of skills.

I like all of them in general (excluding SL which I have only just heard of,)

But WoW and Runscape have one big setback(and please don't flame me for this), that problem is level grinding. I mean, sure they have nicely painted it over with 'quests' and 'battles', But in the end it's just another big grindfest.

That doesn't happen in EVE, it uses RL skill training, which is good for me because instead of have to grind the whole time i can do something else, like...umm... go make tons of ISK or something of the sort.
But the main thing in Eve that drew me is that New Eden is simply HUGE!! - some think a little too huge.

One misconception after first starting and doing the 3 hr tutorial(that only covers the basics), is that there is now nothing to do, the truth is that there is EVErything To Do!!

You could: Go off and kill pirates for bounty, or just trade throughout the region, buying low and selling high, or you could become a pirate yourself, or be a miner, or, or, or, or, or....

You get what I mean.

Folks, 3 years old. Please check the dates on the threads, especially as a TON has changed in all 3 of the aforementioned games (or at least I -think- it has, haven't played them but been reading reviews). Pretty much any argument from before can be thrown out and started anew.
