Nope, I don't use Photobucket lol. That image is supposed to be that 2MB big roflcopter image. They cut off that person's account for using too much bandwidth, however they are showing a colorful image which still uses the bandwidth.

What ever happened to buying bandwidth based on Megabits instead of on Gigabytes?

Lol, I see.

Btw, I know this is kind of off topic, but do you know anything about Total Security?

The fact that Total Security is Malware and siphons credit card data? Of course. Need help removing it?

So that's not actually your picture? lol

Why don't you just copy and paste the image onto a new Photobucket account and use the URL for that, so there's less of a chance that the bandwidth limit happens again, seeing as that's the only picture on the account?

And I'm pretty sure that colorful "Bandwidth Exceeded" picture takes up less bandwidth than your roflcopter image.

I think I've just about got it off. I'm gonna let the hijackthis guys take a look at the log file and see what they say.

Other than that, do you know anything about this fapumoke.dll ?

Malware Bytes is very good. I've just finished running Spybot Search and Destroy, Trojan Remover, and HijackThis. I've currently got spyware nuker searching. Any other suggestions of what I can try? :D

That is most likely a piece of the malware as well.

Do you know how to get rid of it? I renamed it and then tried removing the AppInit reference to it in the registry, but it keeps reseting itself.

Have you tried performing any boot time scans with a scanner such as Avast! ? That should be able to remove it, as typically those things only regenerate if they're already loaded into RAM (which typically takes place during boot). You could try booting into Linux and deleting the file there (or at least moving it to the drive root and re-naming it). I've had to do this once to a PC I was fixing, as there was one executable file which was locking out every bit of the PC and making it freeze (it was called svchast.exe and I saw it running in Task Manager). All I had to do was find the location of svchast.exe, load up Linux, drag the file out of the Windows folder, rename it, and boot up Windows. Once I did that, I was able to clean up the PC completely and then I deleted that svchast.exe file using a secure file shredder built into Malwarebytes. All it took was moving it out of the Windows folder to stop it from executing, and a rename for safe measures.

Yes, but how do I delete registry entries from linux? Because the AppInit reference to it keeps regenerating a couple of seconds after I delete it.

I've never tried editing the registry from Linux so I wouldn't know. In that case your best bet is to try safe mode or a boot time scan, or perhaps HijackThis!/SUPERAntiSpyware to remove it. I'd try SUPERAntiSpyware first as it does have the ability to kill threats in memory (given you set it like that in the options), prevent them from restarting and remove their source. Don't be surprised if SAS forces the PC to blue screen. I've had that program blue screen a Windows installation in order to clean out some infections, and it was in order to prevent the infection from regenerating (of course, the infection was only able to write itself partially due to the system going into a kernal panic), but for the most part SAS did find the left over remains of what tried to re-write itself on reboot and it did clean them up.

Ok, I think I'll just wait for the guys on the hijackthis forums to go through my hijackthis log and see what they come up with. ;) I've spent too much time trying to remove that registry entry already.

That's fine. Expect them to take a few days though, sites such as Bleeping Computer get a lot of posts a day for cleanup, and it can take a long time to read those logs sometimes.

The problem with this system is that it's running XP w/o sp, so I'm pretty sure there is no system restore. I tried looking for it before I attempted to remove the virus thinking that it would be a much easier way to get the computer back to normal, but I couldn't find it. Maybe it's hidden somewhere? :dunno:
