Based on my topic that was somewat hijacked i had an unexpected Epiphany.

http://forums.x10hosting.com/off-topic/99625-x10-forum-changes-2.html

I Suggest we have a [Sarcasm][/Sarcasm] Tag thrown into the WYSIWYG editor... (if i spelled that right) Im sure many ppl would find that helpful.

Besides that i also think you should consider the main purpose of the topic wichw as about not showing the Games forum topics in "new posts" to clean up the spam and make things easier for everyone.

Yea i agree... im not sure if they already have a different tag for strike but that would be awesome.

Another good one would be

Tags wich ive seen many variations of...

Some when you mouseover the spoiler button it automaticly shows the text below itself.
some you click it and then it shows.

I think it's a silly idea.

Half the point of using sarcasm is that the intelligent can understand you, but the stupid get left out in the cold.

If you have to spell out that you're being sarcastic by using tags, it sort of defeats the object. It's the same as telling a joke & then explaining it immediately afterwards - the joke ceases to be funny.

As is being highlighted in this thread, if one adds Sarcasm tags, one might as well also add a few dozen more tags for other things at the same time.

I usually find that adding a simple ;) emoticon at the end of something sarcastic will help to clarify, if I'm worried that my statement would be misunderstood.

Really great idea, NOT ;) <<

Edit : Spoiler & Strike tags would be good, but I don't know how easy they would be to implement, & there is the danger that the Reply box's interface would become too cluttered.

Well i guess the sarcasm tags is a little retarded although ive seen them in good use before... It should be a standard like ;) we know that putting ";" with ")" forms ;) in the same way it should just me known and understood..

Spoilers shouldnt be hard SMF has like 10 different mods for it if i remeber correctly. With all types of styles. Why not VB? Same goes for strike tags, although im sure VB already has those.
As for clutter? Are you high? there is sooo much space in this quick reply menu and were talking about up to 2 buttons.

Please dont forget were also discussing the removal of the games section from the "new posts" area

The best place for the suggested tags would be in the Advanced Reply box, not in the Quick Reply box. And that box already has a lot of tags in it. There is room for more, it's just a matter of personal taste as to how many could be added before it gets too cluttered.

I don't see any point in us replicating points which have already been made in your last thread, here ; http://forums.x10hosting.com/off-topic/99625-x10-forum-changes.html

It's only really worth people posting here if they have something new to add. :)

Yea not all tags have buttons in editors right? I agree with ZapZack... sounds like a good comprimise to me... no anoying clutter... still the potential for kool features remains.

I'm all for adding both sarcasm tags as well possibly spoilers. C'mon x10 coder, would it really take you that much work?

IMHO  is a bit closer to sarcasm specifically, while ;) is more of a general "just kidding".

There's a definite danger of that. To avoid it, we obviously need to convert the entire forum system to plain text only. (See what I mean? ;))
