server side includes quit working

I use server side includes (shtml with cgi-bin) for counters. They worked fine until early June 2010 when they quit working. Any idea what changed? Thanks.

I don't know how to fix the problem, but I would strongly recommend not using shtml - set up a small PHP script to do exactly this, it'll be far easier.

If you don't know PHP too well, you could use http://www.phpjunkyard.com/php-graphical-hit-counter.php

Actually, that would solve the problem completely.

I got it working again. I created .htaccess files in each directory and checked/changed permissions on all files and now it works. Don't understand what changed to stop it in the first place, but oh well, it works now.
