Not available on free; it's available on Paid only by request.

It's only available on the VPSes, if you wish to have more control over the OS

Oh? I was under the impression Paid hosting can request it but it's activated on a per-request basis. I've seen discussions on IRC involving users on paid hosting (not vps) that had SSH enabled. Can I get a confirmation on this from another admin/mod just to make sure I've got my own facts right?

Yeh, but read the last part, if you want more access over the system, VPS is the only option. I don't know what limits are set on the paid SSH tho.

Oh, shell != ssh? If that's the case I'm wrong you're right, I thought ssh == shell >_<

Edit: Found part of an IRC conversation where Corey mentioned it's "Jailbreaked" which appears to just mean you can't screw up the server or other users accounts on paid; anything you can do only affects your account, so it's like mega underpowered compared to VPS' full access.

To Clarify:

Paid hosting users can request SSH access (SSH and shell are the same as I understand it SSH =
Secure Shell) but it is extremely restrictive, and basically can only be used for editing files etc.

However with VPSs you get full SSH access to your VPS.

Free Hosting users have no SSH access
