Site access http and https

I have an SSL for my domain, however, i cannot access it via https. why is this?

How do I install a SSL cert?

I am also getting this error:

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Edit:
The reason i get the 500 internal error is because I enabled HotLink Protection. Is there a way to enable HotLink Protection with my site still working?
