Site down: Error establishing a database connection

My site just went down saying there's a database error. Anyone else having this issue?
I really hope I'm not alone here...

Nope, you aren't alone; I have this problem and so do others.

MySQL seems to be down, so we all have to wait till an admin resolves the problem

I'm having this issue too. I went to look at PHPMyAdmin to see if there were any database errors and for some reason, it won't log me into it. I have made a user for the database and even used my normal user I log into cPanel with, but to no prevail.

Hi, sorry but you wont be able to login to phpMyAdmin because MySQL is down; when you login to phpMyAdmin you'll probably get this error:

#2002 Cannot log in to the MySQL server

I am on level server. the mysql server is down since morning. Quite a setback for the website
