site not working - downloads an application/x-httpd-php53 file

Hi,

i would really appreciate some help. My site has stopped working. When I go there it begins a download of a file type application/x-httpd-php53.

The problem seems to be related to the line in my htaccess: AddType application/x-httpd-php53 .php .php5 .phtml
I've tried commenting it out of the htaccess in public_html but my changes don't seem to be taking any effect.

I am planning to upgrade this Joomla 1.5 site but just need it working for a few more months.

Could I have caused this problem a couple of weeks ago by installing Joomla 3 in a subdomain.

Hi Mark,

I've commented out the AddType line, and your site is now loading fine. There may have been a short delay due to our cache server.

thanks for that, i'm surprised my site is not full of errors now that PHP on a higher version
