SMF can't connect to the database

Hello, I tried installing SMF forums, but it says it can't connect to the database.

Cannot connect to the MySQL database server with the supplied data.

If you are not sure about what to type in, please contact your host.
Access denied for user 'devon32_forums'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

DB name: devon32_forums
User: devon32_elixer

Can you confirm that you have added permissions for the user on the database? This can be done inside cPanel.

I have set premissions everything been trying to make it work for a good 30min then gave up. Any clue why I can't connect to database I think I set up everything right.

This is what's in my settings.php

Perhaps this will give you some more information. Any clue what I'm doing wrong?

Try recreating the user.

The error in your first post shows that you have the mysql user "devon32_forums" set. But you posted the user is "devon32_elixer".

Are you sure you have the right user and password in your config file ?

When I log into my cpanel it shows up devon32_elixer and devon32_forums, I assume this is correct cause I don't know myself either. I've tried many combinations or trying to swap them, but nothing worked it seems.

Thankyou for your support and feedback I have already found a solution my forum works now. I was trying to upload my backup of my old forum on this one after giving up I tried installing a clean forum and it worked.
