SMF header/footer problem

I have followed what the topic http://forums.x10hosting.com/tutorials/22500-how-insert-ads-smf.html says

1. didn't work as not compatible with current version

I installed 2. but i can't see the link under configuration where it is meant to be.

Any help appreciated

I think the problem is it's not a default SMF theme. You may have to contact the themes author for more help on placing the ads.

Its not that either, i tried it in the default theme first and didn't work, so i duno, ill try and contact them now
