Every time I try to install a package on SMF, I get this message: "You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!"
I configured my FTP settings correctly and made the Packages folder writable, but it still won't work. What should I do?:dunno:

download the package from the smf website to your local computer. Then in your smf admin, choose install package at the bottom of the screen, you should have browse for p. hit and browse to your download location, this should upload the p. and decompress it and show you a list of the p. files, after that you can choose to install it.

Try this:
  1. Go to your cpanel file manger.
  2. Find the folder you want
  3. Right-click on it, select "Change Permissions".
  4. Make to set the numbers as 7 in each box(so it should be like this 777).
  5. Click the "Change Permissions" button.
  6. Logout and try reinstalling that package through SMF.
Something gotta work because I installed SMF on my account and also installed a theme. Let me know what happens so we can try something else.
