SMF problems

Ok here are problems which i can't fix :

1. i can't upload a package via the package thingy in admin for smf in a new forum created after updates ( one created before doesn't have this problem) says Could not upload package, please check directory permissions! and i have checked the permissions and should be fine




2. i then went to FTP the files to the right location and the Mod's don't install correctly .when i click apply mod it just gives a white page when i click on it( url at that stage is http://sihi.vennies.x10hosting.com/...s;sa=install;package=globalheadersfooters.zip), but shows in FTP in the package/temp the files for the mod. I have applied that patch for blank smf so would have nothing to do with this i think
i have uninstalled and installed whole forum twice and get same problems.

Have you checked in your error logs ?

In smf errors i only get what i said above.

in cpanel errors i only get Thu Aug 28 17:20:51 2008] [error] [client****] File does not exist: /home/*****/public_html/favicon.ico
about 3 or 4 times

hmm... without any error messages it isnt very easy to solve the problem. I will move this to level 2 support so a admin can take a look at it.

Please check your permissions. I've seen that some of your file/folder permissions are wrong.
CHMOD all your folders to 755. All the files should be on 644, the files that need writing may need 666.

Can you check if i have changed all the right ones because it still doesn't work and i don't know if there is more missing which i have to change as im not 100% familiar with chmod and changing

hope helps as ive changed all permissions i think related to it

EDIT: Ok ive changed all folders to 755 and files to 666, still no luck

Well something has changed in the last 24/48 hours and it all works again for some reason, only error i keep getting in my error logs is that my thing keeps running out of memory, but thanks for the help.
