Now i heard you guys turn off SMTP when people spam, i sent about 6,000 emails yesterday with a newsletter script, and I see that just about none of them were sent, and now i see that SMTP is down. Would sending that much emails shutdown SMTP??

It shouldn't matter, but sendmail will stop working after the first 100 (I Believe), so you have to send 100 at a time with time space of 5 minutes (If you know what i mean). Not sure, but its a guess :)

so the limit is 100 emails/5 minutes, so if i setup some sort of batch i should be ok?

If I understood Micro correctly, yes.

Of course the alternative is to use a third party for mass-mailing that doesn't kill SMTP after 100 emails, but that might not be an option depending on how your website is set up.
