Hello,

I'm trying to use the Soholaunch Pro edition to build my site but when I go to the admin page I get a "500 internal server error" page. My site is kidscakesandbeyond.x10.bz and the soholaunch admin page is kidscakesandbeyond.x10.bz/sohoadmin/index.php

I also have another strange error that may be related. I had a number of folders listed in my public_html folder that I couldn't delete. I tried deleting them through the cPanel file manager and also through FTP but I wasn't able to. The weird thing was that I was able to rename the folders but even after renaming, I couldn't delete them. I renamed the folders to be all numbers (number 1 through 16).

Thanks!

Both problems are permissions related actually; your folders 1-6 have permission set 001 or something which is pretty much "Can't read write or execute," while sohoadmin is 777 which is a security risk. Folders should be 755, files 644; if you change the perms for all of the numbered folders back to 755 it should let you erase them, and if you adjust sohoadmin's folders to 755 and files to 644 it -should- get rid of the 500 ISE error.

If it -doesn't- get rid of the error, then something else is causing it to throw one too, but permissions will always throw one :)

Thank for the quick response!

I modified the permissions of the folders I was trying to delete and that worked out great, thanks! It's weird since I didn't modify the permissions in the first place. These were folders created when I installed something with Fantisco De Luxe and were left there after I uninstalled. There existence was preventing me from reinstalling though so I needed to get rid of them.

The issue with using the sohoadmin was not corrected with the permissions though :-(
I've returned all the folders and files to permissions of 777 since those are the loosest settings

Thats just it, it gets blocked by SUPHP for security if you run it with 777. That's because with 777, it's pretty much "anyone can do anything," which also means it's the quickest way for someone to inject unauthorized code.

Something else will be causing the 500 error besides the permissions if fixing the perms didn't get rid of it, but unless the perms are set to something more secure than 777 it's a guarantee it won't work properly.

Edit: Mini note, you not only have to set the sohoadmin folder to 755, but all subfolders should go to 755 too, and files 644. That'll ensure any issues being caused aren't from perms.

Thanks again for the quick response.

Maybe I missed one of the folders or files, there are a ton of them in the SohoAdmin folder. Installing from Fantastico De Luxe set the permissions to 777 automatically which means that it's never going to work if you want to install from Fantastico De Luxe. Maybe someone could change the installation script so that it sets the permissions properly.

Yeah, I'm not sure if that's something we can fix, it's come up in the past. The other thing that's come up is that it screws up the permissions on uninstall, preventing it from being uninstalled. Which is why I hate auto installers. XD
