some php disabled....

I'm just wondering if the disabling of some php functions will be permanent or just temporarily due to maintainence or whatever.

i am getting this error
Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration
so i am just wondering if you will enable file_get_contents again.

I have put in a request to Staff for a clarification on the issue.

If possible, could you use the cURL library instead? (if it is your own script)
