Very useful, Never though of that, Download Firefox and never allow ActiveX on internet explorer. Like ever! you can get so many god-damn virus from that **** its not funny.

Always look at the address bar when opening a link from a email to avoid phishing.

Well of course, running active x gives full control of the computer to the web page. There is a web page that formats your computer ;)

Who Used Your Pc In Your Absence,what Did He Do?

*****************************************
first you should go

"start > run >eventvwr.msc"

Events are stored in three log files: Application, Security, and System. These logs can be reviewed and archived.

For our purposes we want the System log. Click on "System" in the left-hand column for a list of events.

Look for a date and time when you weren't home and your computer should have been off.

double click on the eg: info n it will show u the detail.

You can also use this log to see how long someone was on the computer.

Just look at the time the computer was turned on and off for that day.
Hope u all will like it.

These tips would be more useful if they specified the Operating System - so far they all seem to be Windows, not Linux/Unix or Mac.

For Linux
Shutdown linux from the command terminal by adding this function to roots' .bashrc file:
quit ()
{
poweroff -d
}
you have to do is be root, and type quit.
Edit:
In linux /etc/passwd is file where users r listed.We can aslo block a particular user there

yes the windows key + u u only works if you have fast user switching enabled
otherwise you will have to use the drop down selection

also doubt this works for vista/7

windows+m = minimize all windows (show desktop)
windows+e = open windows explorer (file browser)

CTRL+N = new webpage for IE + Firefox (linux/windows)
SHIFT+CLICK = open link in new window IE+Firefox (linux/windows)

alt-f4 close currently active window
Edit:
shutdown in linux i usually just open terminal and type init 6 to shut down.... is that bad? heh

use "shutdown -h now" , "halt" or "init 0" to shut down your system
(or hit the power button)

"init 6" just switches to runlevel 6, which would be reboot by default
