Something wrong with MySQL

Not really sure about the problem this is the following message i get

General Error

SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (11) [2002]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

im using phpBB3, and it was working fine yesterday but now I get this error. Any fix? Or just wait out all the server changes? I think that may be it
