Sony BMG Sued for Software Piracy

"Sony BMG" and "piracy" in the same sentence is no strange thing nowadays, but this time the shoe is on the other foot. A small software company, PointDev, managed to not only discover pirated copies of their software on a Sony BMG network, but also seize some of their assets in the process.

PointDev, a small software company, mandated a bailiff to raid one of Sony BMGs owned building in January this year. The raid revealed that four of the Sony BMGs owned servers contained the pirated software.

How was this initially discovered? An employee making a call to tech support. "Hello, operator? I need help learning how to use my ill-gotten gains."
