SRV Records?

Is it possible to have SRV records updated in dns for jabber-related services?

I am using Google Apps for email on the back end for my domain, dragonseptarts.com.

I would like to be able to chat on the wider Jabber network. To do that, according to Google, I need to change my SRV records:

If you'd like your users to have the ability to chat with people connected to the Google Talk network through federated networks, you'll need to edit your Service (SRV) records. You don't need to edit your SRV records for your users to chat with other Google Apps and Gmail users.
When you enter the following information, make sure to replace gmail.com with your domain. Don't replace google.com.

They may add them. It's an unusual request for those types of records. I am gonna bump it to see.

I don't know what DNS you are using, but this is what I found for BIND

We use WHM, webhost manager.. It's alittle different.. What google apps are you trying to use? Email? If so, we can do it differently.. Staff/Senior: Google for "Google apps MX records" and use them if the user OK's it.

Ah, I see.

No, the only thing that isn't working is Google Talk with the greater internet. Email is already working great.

That's okay, though. I don't have a problem with using a Jabber.org address if the SRV records are not an option.

At the risk of slighty hijacking my own thread, have you considered offering a XMPP server as a service?
