I want to move an existing site (hosted by a different provider) to x10hosting. I know that I need to change the Nameservers for the existing domain to point to the x10hosting Nameservers.
However, I cannot use the "Addon a Separate Domain" option to start the creatiion of the site on x10hosting until such time as the Nameservers are changed - therefore I cannot set up my site on x10hosting in advance of changing the Nameservers. Which means there will be a period of time between
1. changing the Nameservers and
2. getting the site built and set-up on x10hosting
when the Nameservers will point to a non-existent site.
How can this be avoided?

Hi manormed,

You could create a new directory in your "public_html" directory for your new website, and set up your website there first. You can then access that site from your .x10host.com domain, if you need to check it. When you're ready to change the nameservers, you can then create an addon domain, pointing to the directory you have already created. :)

Thank you,
